December 16, 2005, Newsletter Issue #11: Insurance Buying Precautions

Tip of the Week

Health insurance is a big purchase; it`s important you aren`t going into it blindly. When buying health insurance:

Compare a variety of plans and make sure you get answers to all your questions.

Check with the insurance department in your state to see if the agent as well as the insurance company is licensed to do business in your state.

Review your insurance application thoroughly to make sure all the information you provide is correct.

When you purchase your plan, write the check out to the insurance company and not the agent.

Make sure you are given a receipt for your payment. Make sure the date you paid, the insurance company’s name as well as your new policy number is on the receipt.
